How to Store Peptides: A Complete Guide

Proper storage is critical to maintaining peptide stability. Whether you have just received an order or are managing a research inventory, these guidelines will keep your compounds viable throughout their shelf life.

Before Reconstitution

Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides are remarkably stable when stored correctly:

  • Short-term (1–2 months): room temperature in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Medium-term (3–6 months): refrigerated at 2–8°C
  • Long-term (6+ months): frozen at −20°C or below

After Reconstitution

Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water:

  • Always refrigerate at 2–8°C
  • Use within 30 days
  • Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles
  • Use sterile technique when drawing from the vial

Lab Tips

  • Keep vials upright to protect the stopper
  • Label everything with reconstitution date and concentration — the calculator gives you the concentration figure
  • Use amber vials or keep away from light when possible
